Chaos and Order
Blase Masini
May 4 - June 2,  2018

Blase Masini is an abstract artist whose work explores a tension between chaos and order. Cold wax medium lends itself to rich organic (chaotic) surfaces. By using collage and stencils, Blase introduces order to the organic surfaces that cold wax medium affords him. Now the painting process holds a constant tension between chaos and order that mimics tension he experiences in life.

Blase is a 1982 graduate of Illinois State University in printmaking. He has exhibited in juried shows across the country. He is a featured artist in a groundbreaking book titled, Cold Wax Medium: Techniques, Concepts & Conversations.

The Vital Art Project: Emergency Room
April 22 - March 28, 2018

Emergency Room artists Catherine Cajandig (IL), Judith Jones (MI), Deanna Krueger (IL), Erik R. Peterson (IL), Mimi Peterson (WI), and Daniel Teafoe (IL) present a fluid collection of works that boldly fuels the idea that color is perpetually transformative. The cross-disciplinary nature of ER brings tangentially related ideas together - zen-like meditation, visceral image and color metamorphosis, dynamics of human and natural environment -that link perceptions of color and continuous renewal with mass culture and the World Wide Web color world. Curated by Mimi Peterson.

Windows to Heaven
Kelly Steitz
January 19 - February 23, 2018

Artist Kelly Steitz is a 1992 graduate of Milwaukee Area Technical College with an Associate Degree in Commercial Art. Her art has been shown at Andersen Art Center in Kenosha and at Racine Art Museum’s Wustum Museum. Steitz’s artwork has been featured on banners for the Downtown Racine Corporation and in Art Scene Today. Steitz conducts batik workshops at Racine Art Museum.

“Windows to Heaven” is a collection of work featuring batik interpretations of the stained glass windows found in the urban churches of Racine, Wisconsin. Steitz believes that while many of these windows have been neglected over the years, they still hold a certain beauty and charm. According to Steitz, the windows have weathered the storms of life much like much Racine itself.

Grace Verhaeghe - Curated by Nick Ravnikar
Sep 1 –Oct 28 2017

Grace Verhaeghe lived and painted in obscurity alongside nationally acclaimed artists Ruth Kjaer and John Goray in Racine, WI while raising five children. A trove of paintings by the 98-year-old Racine county native was salvaged by realtor and collector Dan Gobis and local poet/scholar/educator Nicholas Ravnikar. This show aims to bring attention to the quality and range Grace?s work in its own right and as reflective of two generations of local artists. In addition working with nonprofits and businesses to find permanent homes for Grace?s art, the proceeds of the art sales will establish a modest scholarship for local parent-artists.Fashionista
