The Racine Arts Council proudly presents Alternative Firing Techniques: Racine County Potters a ceramic exhibition featuring seven Racine County potters: Diane Caron, Mark Hyde, Tony Macias, Alex Mandli, Kevin Pearson, Mary Rhomberg-Spengler and Jeff Shawhan.
These ceramic artists either hand build or throw their work and employ alternative firing techniques to decorate the surfaces of their work. They accomplish this surface decoration by “playing with fire”, using different clays, types of kilns, combustible materials, firing temperatures and atmospheres.
This exhibit will coincide with National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts national convention to be held in Milwaukee, WI March 19-22, 2014. Museums and galleries from Kenosha to Sheboygan have planed over 100 ceramic exhibitions. For more information visit www.nceca.net
